Too long for Twitter, and not quite postworthy but…

…whatever happened to the casual relationship America used to have with Scott Baio? He was sort of like Leap Year. Every few years you’d hear about some hot woman he was having sex with, then respond with something akin to “Wow, how does that guy do it?” then make a Joanie Loves Chachi reference and be done with him until the next time.

I miss those days.

  1. i’m a reality tv whore, so take this with a big grain of salt, but …. the first scott baio show i thought (as i do with every reality tv show), “this is going to be a nightmare.” and i ended up really coming to like him more because of it. he seemed like a guy who was really struggling with some stuff, but was making an honest effort to look at his life at this stage in the game (unlike his buddy, johnny).i haven’t seen this week’s episode (and i’m giving rock of love II another spin … those shows are like my new version of pot …tune in, erase my brain), but we’ll see. but another adrienne curry/brady fight show? that’s curious. not to say i won’t watch it, though. i’m a dog.

  2. While I was curled on a friend’s couch all day Saturday, that show came on and neither of us wanted to expend the effort to turn it off. I will say I hope the whole thing is scripted to play off a “character” because if it isn’t, Scott Baio might just be the most self-centered asshole in show business.Next to Jeremy Piven of course.

  3. okay. so i saw the episode. yeah, he’s a mega whiny bitch. but i think two things are paramount here (i know it’s ridiculous that i’m a sociologist of reality tv. sue me.) — 1. i think he voices the fears and crabbiness of a lot of guys. it’s not just cause he’s fancy dancy scott baio. he’s being perfectly honest. which is ugly a lot of the time. i guess i see a lot of it in recovery. ugly honesty.2. at the end of the ep (i know, editing, editing, show), he seems to have an epiphany … hey, i can talk to my wife (fiancee?). i can express feelings. it won’t fucking kill me. and i think that’s a fear of a lot of guys. they’re stuffers. they don’t share. they’d rather get angry than get real. whatever. i’m a freak.
