Best thing all week

Most of you probably saw the Create Your Own Simpsons avatar activity on The Simpsons Movie website. The site allowed you to create a Simpsons character that supposedly looked like you. I came close, but it was never quite right.

Today my co-worker Margaret sent me a link to Simpsonizeme.com, which allows you to do essentially the same, but with a picture of yourself, thereby offering a more lifelike depiction of yourself as…er, a cartoon.

I ended up with this:

Seriously, how much does that look like me? The eyebrows aren’t quite right, and my normally lantern-jawed chin is given short shrift, but otherwise: damn. You probably have a picture of me (drunk) making that exact face.

And if you’re saying to yourself “Say, I don’t remember you looking quite that way,” then perhaps you ought to show up here:

It’ll be fun, I promise. If not, you’ll get a beer for your trouble.*

Grr…the link didn’t work the first time. Let’s try this again.I do agree that it looks pretty bang-on.On an unrelated note, I got an interesting popup when cruising here today, seems to be related to “peekaboo posts” or “recent comments” – here’s a < HREF="http://picasaweb.google.com/matt.stratton/Misc/photo#5088530756343949474" REL="nofollow">screenshot<>.

Yeah, the hack keeps putting the jump link in a post even when there isn’t a jump. I experimented with putting the -30- text in there to let people (or, I guess, crusty old journos) know that it was the end but that was lame, too. Been meaning to track down a fix. Thanks for the heads up, Matt!

And in more on-topic land, I haven’t been able to get a single photo to work with Simpsonizeme.com.I tried high res, low res, close ups of my face, close ups of someone else’s face…no matter what, I just get the “an error occurred” error. Oh well.
